Welcome to Quirky Workshops at Greystoke Craft Garden and Barns.
Since 2005, we’ve hosted inspiring Art, Craft and Heritage Skills courses from this peaceful C17th farmhouse venue on the edge of the Lake District.
Our Spaces: workshops are hosted in our sensitively restored Grade II listed studios, Swallow Barn and Squirrel Barn.
Fuel Your Creativity: Fresh coffee & homemade biscuits to start, and a tasty home made lunch is followed by Aga cream tea. Hot drinks throughout.
Easy Access: We're 5mi west of Penrith & J40 of the M6/A66, perfectly nestled between the Eden Valley and Ullswater, the Lake District.
Stay a While: Turn your visit into a short break! Explore local B&Bs and pubs via the Greystoke Village Website or Airbnb.
" I am SO impressed with the loveliness of the Swallow barn. ..it’s such a calm, safe space... its layout makes it easy to chat and to look at what others are doing. I’m so glad I came, I feel uplifted, somewhat healed and much more positive. Oh... and the lunch was just wonderful too! Jane "

Tutor demonstrations can either be projected onto a screen, or students can gather round, allowing flexibility.
You can select your food options on arrival and our tasty lunches are served around 12.30 to 1pm. Lunch can either be taken at your own desk or in the garden in summer.
Our Pizza Oven, Raku pottery firing, Spoon carving and Wood Carving courses take place outside (mostly during the summer months) with shelter available if needed.
Cookery Days and all previous workshop lunches that took place in our farmhouse kitchen are no longer offered.
We look forward to welcoming you to this lovely corner of Cumbria and Greystoke village.

Feedback from our visitors
Today was my first time at Quirky Workshops. What a welcoming venue! You looked after us really well all day, providing drinks, homemade cakes and a great packed lunch. Annis is an excellent tutor. The crafting materials were so well organised and the guidance so clear, we really couldn’t fail! I had a lovely day from start to finish and I will be looking to see what I can do next. Thank you.
Thank you for the workshop yesterday and it was good to meet you. It was wonderful day and John was an excellent tutor. I learned so much in such a short time and met some lovely people.
You have such an amazing facility and the barn and refreshments were superb. Days such as this are life affirming.
I look forward to coming again in the new year.
Take care and best wishes.
Thanks for the photo it’s great. We both had a wonderful day.
Thank You.
Just wanted to say a massive thanks for Thursday- I had a wonderful day. Phil was a great instructor- taking time to keep us all together and ensuring that we all left with a hare.
Your catering throughout the day was wonderful- an added bonus!
Looking forward to choosing another course in the future Rosie
Fab day as ever! Thanks for everything- will be back soon.
Thank you so much for another lovely day at Quirky Workshops. And for the lunch and snacks, of course. Great organisation as usual. Please thank everyone involved. And hope to see you again.
Thanks for a lovely day at the Quirky Workshop. I really enjoyed the lino cut workshop. Also thanks for all the thought and preparation in making the venue feel very safe.
Just to let you know how much I enjoyed the silver clay workshop yesterday. My finished leaf pendant has been much admired. I had to leave before the others but here is a photo of my finished product. I am looking forward to the next class.
Thank you for providing such a lovely day yesterday. It felt like a wonderful escape and was a day of huge pleasure and learning. Please also thank Claire for delivering all our drinks and delicious food.
You have made a wonderful environment for everyone and I know that doesn't happen without lots of frantic paddling below the surface!
Kim is a lovely & generous tutor, and the group worked so well together, very giving, supportive and friendly. Also, we were so lucky with that glorious sunshine!
I'm so grateful as, like so many of us, we have had some stressful times recently and it was wonderful to take the time out.
He enjoyed his day so much and said that you and David the tutor were lovely!
One of the best Christmas presents I've ever got him!!
