Greystoke Craft Garden and Barns is a peaceful, rural and creative venue offering an inspiring range of art, craft and heritage courses ~ Quirky Workshops ~ from our C17th farmhouse in the lovely village of Greystoke. We nestle 5 miles equidistantly from Penrith and the Eden Valley, and Ullswater, on the northern fringes of the Lake District, in beautiful Cumbria, north west England. We have been running courses since 2005.
For those thinking of combining their creative workshop with a short stay, there are plenty of B and B's locally, plus a lovely pub in Greysokte, the Boot and Shoe, serving tasty food and offering accommodation too. Please see greystokevillage.co.uk for all overnight offerings and check out Airbnb too. We are an easy 5 miles west of J40 of the M6, where it crosses with the A66.
During the May 2020 Covid lockdown, to create a much needed larger studio, we set about renovating a redundant listed hay loft. We're very fortunate now to have two beautiful studios from which to host our art and craft workshops. Swallow Barn is our new, light, airy and spacious first floor space; perfect for using post Covid as distancing was possible and tutor demonstrations were viewable on a large screen at the front whilst students remained at their desks. This screen facility is still available. Squirrel Barn is our original studio, smaller and more intimate, just off the gravel driveway up three steps into the room. Fresh coffee, teas, home baking and tasty lunches are brought to the studio, or taken in the garden during summer months.

" I am SO impressed with the loveliness of the Swallow barn. In the midst of this COVID world of chaos and uncertainty, it’s such a calm, safe space and I’m sure that everyone who visits will agree. I also appreciate the abundance of extra safety/hygiene measures that you’ve put in place. It works so well. Also, as Gwen mentioned, the extra space and its layout has made for a more social environment - it’s easier to chat and to look at what others are doing. I’m so glad I came, I feel uplifted, somewhat healed and much more positive as a result. Oh... and the lunch was just wonderful too! Jane "
